Grief Care Group, Cottage Grove

This group is for anyone who has lost a loved one. It offers grief education support by featuring a variety of speakers who present on different topics relating to the grief experience. Following the presentation, there is time for small group discussion.


It meets year-round at Kok Funeral Home & Cremation Service in Cottage Grove on scheduled Monday evenings. For the specific schedule and details, please give us a call at the funeral home.

Gone Too Soon

This is a safe place for parents to gather to gain understanding and support as they navigate the winding road of loss and grief following the death of a child. Meetings are on the 1stand 3rd Wednesdays from 6:30 -8:00p.m. at the Tilden Community Center: 310 River St Hastings, MN.

Hastings Grief Care Group

This group provides a caring environment of mutual support and education for those experiencing the death of a loved one. Weekly topics promote reflectionson the grief experience with guest speakers to share professional and first-hand knowledge of grief and loss.

Meetings are on the fourth Thursday of each month from 6:00-7:30 p.m.

Survivor Resources

This is a private, non-profit organization dedicated to providing immediate and long-term emotional support and practical help for the families and friends of those who have died by homicide, suicide or accident. They walk with families understanding the special grieving needs created by violent death and offer essential assistance in easing relationships between police departments, county attorney’s offices, and the grieving families.

Group meetings are held four times throughout the year on Mondays from 6:30-8:00p.m.

The Center for Grief, Loss and Transition

This group of professionals provides specialized counseling, education, and a variety of group meetings for those dealing with complicated grief, trauma,and life transition. Fully staffed with licensed psychologists, marriage and family therapists and counselors, they offer hope during some of the most difficult times you could experience.

Widow Might®

This is an organization based in Minnesota which exists to bring widows together, provide support, and offer resources and events to women of any age who find themselves on the unwelcomed path of widowhood. It is a Christian-based organization believing that one of the most valuable resources is others walking the path of widowhood and choosing to help others. 

Faith's Lodge

Faith’s Lodge was created by a bereaved Twin Cities couple in remembrance of their daughter, Faith Ann, to provide opportunity to draw strength from others who have had similar experiences or simply to retreat for a while in the tranquil Northwoods setting. It serves parents and families who have suffered the loss of a child (19 years old and younger) in the past three years. It is located in Danbury, WI, and gives parents and families the opportunity to stay from one to five nights once during each calendar year.

Smile Again Retreat Center

Smile Again Ministries helps families cope with the grief and struggles that follow the death of a child. Since 1998, SAM has helped several moms, dads, and surviving siblings cope with their loss and pain. It is located at Whitetail Lodge, near Crosslake, Minnesota. This is a safe place to deal with your shattered emotions. It doesn't matter what age your child was when he or she died—we have found the pain suffered by parents is deep no matter how old your child was. It is $50 a night per bedroom suite.

Brighter Days Grief Center

This is an unparalleled family-focused grief center serving Minnesota families since 2017. As the only nonprofit Family Grief Center in Minnesota, we provide free grief support resources, programs and services for youth, young adults, adults, and families who are grieving the death or terminal diagnosis of a beloved family member.

Grief Share

This is a 14-week support group for those grieving the loss of someone close. It offers a Christian perspective as a nondenominational group that features Biblical teaching on grief and recovery topics. It includes a video seminar from top experts on grief recovery, a workbook, and small group discussion. Churches in the area that offer Grief Share sessions:

Center for Loss & Life Transition

Founded in 1984 by Dr. Alan Wolfelt, the Center for Loss and Life Transition is dedicated to supporting grieving people as they mourn significant transitions and losses that transform their lives. They help mourners by walking with them in their unique life journeys and by serving as an educational resource and professional forum.

Compassionate Friends

TCF provides highly personal comfort, hope, and support to families experiencing the death of a son or a daughter, a brother or a sister, or a grandchild. They offer meetings, newsletters, and a helpful website. They understand that when a child dies, no matter the age, the family suffers intense pain and may feel hopeless and isolated.

The St. Paul Chapter meetings are held on the second Thursday of each month at 7:00 p.m.

The Grief Club of Minnesota

The Grief Club of Minnesota - A Healing Place for Children, Teens & Families

We are a safe haven of support, compassion, education and hope. We provide services by licensed mental health counselors at no cost to participants so that children, teens, and their families can navigate grief in healthy ways.

Children's Grief Connection

Hearts of Hope Camp & Teen Retreat is a grief camp that provides an encouraging environment and support network to children/teens who have experienced the death of a parent, sibling, grandparent or significant friend. These two-day camps provide opportunities for children to meet other children who understand and to share their feelings and memories. Memorialization activities include candle lighting, balloon release, and arts and crafts, in addition to typical camp fun and games. This camp is free thanks to the generous support of Minnesota funeral directors and other concerned persons.
