, Age 94, of Newport died on April 30, 2009 at Augustana Health Care Center in Minneapolis.
Alice
was born November 13, 1914 in Maynard, Minnesota the daughter of Theodore & Annette (Stenson) Thorkelson. She graduated from Granite Falls High School in 1932. She was united in marriage to Stanley Lauve at Wang Lutheran Church in Maynard on November 4, 1939
Alice will be greatly missed by those whose lives she touched. Alice was a top sales associate at Dayton's for many years and enjoyed sewing, bead work, needlepoint and crochet. Alice generously shared her gift of music. When her eyesight failed she continued to play piano by ear at Augustanna. Stan and Alice enjoyed wintering in Arizona and have spent many hours singing favorite hymns together, praying for everyone, and attending worship. Her kitchen was filled with love and hospitality and she was concerned about the welfare of other people. Alice loved the Lord and she has taught us to have confidence in His promises.
Beloved wife of Stanley; loving mother of Nancy (Robert) Swanson of Vadnais Heights; Janet (Wayne) Anderson of Sauk Rapids; grandmother of Stephen (Sherri) Schuldt, Kristen Tischler (Kyle Kielmeyer), Marie (Mike) Newcome, Gwen (Jay) Nelson, Mark (Julie) Swanson, Emily Swanson, Nathan Anderson, Nicole Anderson; great-grandmother of Joseph, Jimmy, Jacob, John, Jack, Randle, Maxwell, Tia, Abby, Daniel, Justin, Katie, Amanda; many nieces & nephews. Preceded in death by son Roger; sister Sophie (George) Waterman, brothers Ernest (Gladys) Thorkelson, Orton (Evelyn) Thorkelson, Gerald Thorkelson.
Funeral Service 11 Am Monday at NEWPORT LUTHERAN CHURCH, 900 15

St. Newport. Interment Hillcrest Cemetery in Granite Falls. Visitation 10-11 AM Monday at church.
