Barbara Ann Hugare

Barbara Hugare, of Cottage Grove, MN peacefully passed away on her 86th birthday with family and friends by her side on November 28, 2023.

Memorial Service will be 11:00 am on Friday, December 8, 2023 at Lighthouse Baptist Church - 9979 80th Street S., Cottage Grove, MN with a visitation beginning one hour prior to service at the church. Private interment will be at Cottage Grove Cemetery.

Barbara was born in Gary, Indiana, to parents John and Barbara (Bazin) Bencie on November 28, 1937. She attended Froebel High School in Gary, Indiana, graduating in 1955. She was united in marriage to Einar Hugare on April 8, 1967.  They spent twenty years in Berwyn, Illinois, moving to White Lake, Wisconsin in 1991.  Barbara has been in the Cottage Grove area since 2002.

Barbara worked for AIMS Services in Chicago, IL and Mitco Sales in Countryside, IL as an Administrative Assistant. Barbara spent many years volunteering and working on staff at the Senior Center in Cottage Grove, MN. 

Barbara enjoyed cooking, baking, and gardening. She has always been very involved in serving and caring for people. She especially had a heart for serving in the local church, teaching Sunday school and leading in the AWANA ministry at Emmanuel Bible Church in Berwyn, Illinois.   

Barbara is survived by her son David (Leslee); grandchildren Ethan and Macy; and brother Charles (Sharon) Bencie, and her many cousins that she loved so dearly. She is preceded in death by her parents and husband.

Barbara will be remembered for her incredible generosity, a servants heart, and her deep love for Jesus.  In recent years, Barbara spoke often and with anticipation of when she would see Jesus face to face.  Barbara’s family would like to thank her friends at Lighthouse Baptist Church along with her dear friends Kathleen, Barb and German for caring so well for Barbara as her daily needs increased.
