Burton "Burt" Lindau, age 77 of Cottage Grove, MN passed away surrounded by his family on March 18, 2026. Burton Frank Lindau was born in St. Paul, MN to Burton L. Lindau and Marie Lindau. He was united in marriage to Dorothy on October 2, 1982. Burt graduated from Mahtomedi High School in 1966. He played football, hockey and track.

After high school, Burt enlisted in the Air Force and served from July, 1967 to July, 1971 rising to rank of Sergeant as a Military Policeman. He served in various locations, including Vietnam, Laos and Thailand. He became a lifetime member of the VFW and the American Legion.

He worked various jobs before starting a job at 3M in St. Paul, MN and completed over 26 yrs before the 3M Tape Division closed down in 2002. He then worked as a security officer for Regions Hospital for years.

He enjoyed traveling, going to Georgia frequently to visit his two oldest children, attending various air shows with his wife and two youngest daughters including the Blue Angels, the Thunderbirds and the Oshkosh Air Show in Oshkosh, WI. Burt also enjoyed going to Christian music concerts, including For King & Country and the Booth Brothers. Burt liked to go fishing with friends and his youngest daughter. Burt had a great sense of humor even towards the end of his life. He made friends everywhere he went. He studied the bible frequently and hosted Zoom calls with his family and relatives on Sunday evenings over the last few years. Burt enjoyed spending time with family more than anything else, including sharing meals, family vacations and special events.

Burt is survived by wife, Dorothy "Dodie"; children Terry (Haley) Lindau, Stacy Vickery, Diana Lindau, Jessica Lindau; grandchildren Maria, Gabriella, Michael, Landon, Ethan, Tripp, Saylor; 3 great-grandchildren; siblings Kathy Payne, Cynthia (Robert) Fritsche and Rita (John) Anderson and many nieces & nephews.

Burt is preceded in death by parents Burton L. and Marie Lindau; sister Eileen Gonser; infant brother Jesse Lindau and brother-in-law Jim Payne.

Memorial service will be at 11 AM on Wednesday, April 22, 2026 at Crossroads Church, 7955 Ivystone Ave. S.; Cottage Grove, MN with a visitation from 9-11 AM. All are invited to a luncheon following the service. Committal service with military honors will be the same day at Ft. Snelling National Cemetery; Minneapolis, MN at 2 PM (arrive by 1:45 PM) - Assembly Area # 2.
