Byron Felix Justin Glime was born March 7, 1929, in Red River Township, Wisconsin to Joseph and Anna (Naze) Glime. When Byron was 16 years old, he enlisted in the US Navy. He was introduced to the love of his life, Elaine Marie Evans and they were united in marriage on August 8, 1953, at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Minneapolis. During his time in the military, he served as an aircraft mechanic and went on several deployments on various aircraft carriers. They were stationed in various locations during that time including Florida, Hawaii, California, Oklahoma and Tennessee. After serving his country for 22 years, Byron was retired from the Navy at the rank of Chief Petty Officer in 1968 and moved to Cottage Grove the following year.

Following his retirement from the Navy, he was hired by the US Postal Service, where he faithfully worked until his retirement in 1989. Among Byron's favorite things to do were gardening, tinkering in his garage and spending as much time with his family and grandchildren as he could.

During his time in the Navy, he found a passion to teach others and after retirement moved to Minnesota and found opportunities to teach the English language to immigrants from Cambodia. Byron also stayed active in the Boy Scouts of America for many years. He was dearly loved and will also be greatly missed.

He was an active member of several organizations including the Knights of Columbus, American Legion, Veteran's of Foreign Wars, Fleet Reserves Association, Naval Aviation Museum Foundation and the US Navy Memorial Foundation.
