Carol Zimmerman, age 77 of Cottage Grove, passed away peacefully on October 30, 2020 surrounded by her loving family.
She is survived by her husband of 50 years, Bruce; children Tami (Dale) McNamara, Chris (Grace) Zimmerman, Kelly Sirek and Kari Zimmerman; 22 grandchildren; 43 great-grandchildren; sisters Shirley and Maxine as well as extended family and her furry companion Josie. She is preceded in death by two sons, Dale and Rick; parents John and Inez; several siblings, infant foster child, Nathan and her beloved dog Bobo.
Carol Edith Zimmerman was born December 26, 1942 in Hugo, Minnesota to John and Inez Aljets. She grew up in St. Paul and was a dedicated stay at home mom who dedicated her life to being a foster mother for over 42 years. Carol was united in marriage to Bruce Zimmerman on February 28, 1970 and they enjoyed 50 years together. She enjoyed various kinds of crafts, including ceramics and sewing. Carol loved to go bowling, watch game shows, camping and making frequent trips to the casino. She treasured each one of her children and her grandchildren were her pride and joy. She will be missed by many.
Funeral service will be 1 pm, Thursday, November 5, 2020 at St. Andrew’s Lutheran Church, 1000 Portland Avenue, St. Paul Park with visitation one hour prior. Interment Newport Cemetery. Masks will be REQUIRED. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred.
While maintaining social distancing guidelines, we are now able to accommodate gatherings while abiding to a 50% capacity at the facility.
