Cheri was born in 1963 at St. Joseph's Hospital in Brainerd. She moved with her family to St. Paul Park in 1969. She graduated from Park High School, class of 1981. In 1986 she met Tom "Shorty" Shannon at the local Tom Thumb and they fell in love. They were married on October 17, 1987 at St. Thomas Aquinas and moved to South St. Paul. They ended up back in Cottage Grove where they raised their son Mike.
Cheri and Shorty founded Shannon Auto Glass in Newport in 1991. Then in 2004, they co-founded American Motorsports Bar and Grill, known to many as the "Car Bar" where she met many new people and had a lot of fun. Cheri was a very outgoing person and easily made friends wherever she went. She loved music, beaches near and far and spending time at their cabin on Big Blake Lake. She loved her animals and was fond of watching birds, especially the hummingbirds and oriole birds she fed each year. Her love for life and contagious personality touched many lives and she will be greatly missed.
She is survived by her husband Tom "Shorty"; son Mike (Ashley); father Virgil; siblings Ted, Cary (Darrell), Andy, Betty, Judy (Lance) and many nieces and nephews that she loved dearly. She is preceded in death by her mother Grace.
