Chester C. Christy Jr.

Chester C. Christy Jr., age 91, passed away on Wednesday, October 21, 2026.

Chester was born in St. Paul, Minnesota to Chester Christy Sr. and Sylvia Sherer. He has many fond memories of growing up on Coon Lake in Bethel, Minnesota and spent his childhood outside. He always loved the outdoors, especially fishing and hunting. He moved to St. Paul as a teenager and worked many odd jobs until he joined the Air Force in 1953. After his years of service, he worked as a mailman. In 1962, he started the academy to become a police officer. In 1963 he married the love of his life, Colleen Claugherty. The family spent many years camping and time outdoors. Chester's favorite place was Scenic State Park in northern Minnesota.

Chester was a St. Paul Police Officer for 31 years and he belonged to the Como Park Masons.

He will be remembered for his many jokes, larger than life stories, love of fishing and beer, and macabre sense of humor. His grandchildren and great-grandchildren were the light of his life.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Chester Sr. and Sylvia; and brother, Ronald.

He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Colleen; children, Judy (Mike) Ptacek, Jim, Jill (Christian) Robiller; 7 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and sister Carole Edwards.

Memorial service will be at 5:30 PM on Friday, November 13, 2026, with visitation beginning at 4:00 PM at Kok Funeral Home 7676 80th Street South Cottage Grove, Minnesota 55016. All are invited to join a reception following the service. Private burial will take place at Fort Snelling National Cemetery at a later date.

Chester's last wish was to be donated to the University of Minnesota Anatomy Bequest Program.
