Clifford Braun

Clifford W. Braun, 90 of Cottage Grove , passed away on Thursday July 17, 2008, at Woodbury Healthcare Center .

Clifford was born June 5, 1918 in South St. Paul , Minnesota , the son of Albert and Helen (Freitag) Braun. He graduated from South St. Paul High School in 1937. Clifford was drafted into the Army during WWII and served in the European theater. After his period of service was complete, he came home to South St. Paul and married Gurdie Smith on October 19, 1946 in St. Paul . They lived in and around the South St. Paul and Newport areas for many years.

Clifford was employed by Swift for 32 years, and then as a Capital guard retiring in 1980.

He enjoyed his time at the cabin, fishing, loved sports including hockey, and watching the Twins and Vikings.

Clifford is survived by his wife Gurdie of Cottage Grove; daughter Patricia (Daniel) Bigham of Cottage Grove; son-in-law Paul Miller of Shoreview; 6 grandchildren Danielle, Brian, Karla, Molly, Roseann, and Greg, also his sister, Doris Lattery of Aitkin, MN.
