We are terribly saddened to announce the unexpected passing of Cynthia Freeman at the age of 68. She passed away from natural causes on March 16th at her family’s home in Cottage Grove.
Cynthia Denise Freeman, née Fischer was born on October 3rd, 1954 in Cape Girardeau, MO to parents Robert and Coralynn Fischer. She was passionate and creative, and enjoyed spending her time reading voraciously, crafting beaded jewelry and sewing quilts. She also loved the outdoors and hiking in nature, and she dreamed of visiting every National Park in the United States at least once.
Above all, she was a loving, compassionate soul who often spent her time in cheerful service to others. As the eldest daughter, she rose to the occasion whenever her parents and siblings needed assistance. She was a kind and encouraging mother, who loved fiercely and supported her two sons through good times and hard times. Her grandchildren were her world, and she joyfully spent as much time with them as she could. Nothing brought her more joy than sharing stories about her grandkids to almost anyone who would listen. She was also well-loved by her colleagues at Securian Financial, where she had worked for more than 25 years.
Cynthia was predeceased by her mother, Coralynn. She is survived by her father, Robert; her siblings, Shawn, Laura, and Lynn; her sons Thomas and Conrad; and by her grandchildren, Olivia and Niko. She also has one more grandchild on the way.
A memorial will be held at Dodge Nature Center, in the Library and History Center on Thursday, March 23rd at 06:30pm.
