It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Delphine "Dely" Dorothy Field, age 95, of Saint Paul Park, Minnesota. A devout Roman Catholic, a joyful fun-loving woman, and a loving mother, Delphine passed away peacefully on Monday, May 18th in Saint John's Hospital of heart failure brought on by a week-long battle with pneumonia.
Delphine was born to Rudolph and Cecelia Janisch on April 27th, 1931 in Britton, South Dakota. After graduating from high school in 1949, she completed teacher training and taught briefly in South Dakota before moving to Seattle, Washington where she worked as a nurse's aide. Delphine worked similar jobs in Denver, Colorado and Los Angeles, California where she met and married Paul Field in 1956. They moved to Saint Paul Park, Minnesota in 1960 where they raised their family of three children, Aaron, Bill, and Theresa.
The family were parishioners at the Church of Saint Thomas Aquinas where Delphine volunteered to wash liturgical vestments, clean the activities building, and work at funerals and yearly fundraisers. She also volunteered as a girl scout leader. Beginning in 1974 she worked at the local W.T. Grants and Kmart stores until her retirement in 1996.
Delphine loved remaining close with extended family members, tending to her house plants, and ocean scenery. She was a devoted mother and supported her children any way she could. In later life Delphine enjoyed taking walks, praying the Rosary, working Sudoku puzzles and continued to remain in close contact with friends and family.
Delphine was preceded in death by her husband Paul and her son Aaron.
She is survived by her children Bill Theresa (Ernie), grandchildren Alex (Morgan) and Sam (Caroline), great-grandchildren Mason, Abigail, and Hazel, and her sister Jane Fischer.
