Diana Margaret Spieker

Diana Spieker, age 84, of Cottage Grove, Minnesota, passed away peacefully on Thursday, August 20, 2026.

Diana Margaret Spieker was born on July 26, 1942, to Nicholas and Helen Herlitz. Even as a young girl, Diana knew she wanted to be a nurse; it truly was a calling for her. She fulfilled that dream by attending St. Mary’s School of Nursing in Rochester, Minnesota. She worked in a variety of clinics and hospitals throughout her career and spent many years at Fairview Southdale Hospital.

Diana enjoyed ballroom dancing, camping, and traveling—especially to South Padre Island, Texas, Florida, or anywhere else she could find a beach. Her greatest joy was spending time with her family, and she absolutely lived for her grandchildren. Diana will be remembered for her sincere kindness, her devotion to caring for others, and her giving heart. She will be deeply missed by her family and friends.

Diana is survived by her sons, Michael (Lori), Charles (Teresa), John (Barbara), and David (Stephanie); grandchildren, Ashley, Regan, Nicholas, Karlene, Nicholas, and Nathan; sister-in-law, Sharon Herlitz; niece, Leah (Tyree) Harris; grandniece, Keyma; and grandnephews, Tyree James and DeShaun.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Nicholas and Helen Herlitz; brother, Jim Herlitz; niece, Debbie Herlitz; and significant other, Richard Timm.

Visitation for Diana will be held from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, September 3, 2026, at the Church of St. Rita, 8694 80th Street South, Cottage Grove, Minnesota. A Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 11:00 a.m., followed by luncheon at the church.

A graveside service will take place at 1:30 p.m. on Friday, September 4, 2026, at Assumption Cemetery in Richfield, Minnesota.
