Cottage Grove

Diane (Ramstrom) Shelton age 77, of Cottage Grove passed peacefully at home on April 21, 2024.

Diane was an active resident of Cottage Grove who loved to boat, travel, read, journal, entertain and spend time with her friends and family. She grew up in Maplewood with her sister, Karen, brother Gregg and parents Lola and Maurice. She was a fun, happy-go-lucky kid that liked having coins in her pocket and playing softball. She graduated from North Saint Paul High School in 1964. She graduated from Mankato State University with a degree in education and became a teacher at North Saint Paul and later a substitute teacher in Cottage Grove. She married Ron, the love of her life, in 1969 and together they had 3 children.

Diane had many lifelong friends from high school, college, her neighborhood in Cottage Grove and church where she was an active member. Her love for her family and friends was immense. Diane and Ron spent many weekends throughout their lives with them boating, hanging out at the marina, card club, the Beach House, at their friends’ homes or entertaining in their home. Diane was always there for her family and friends whether it was a shoulder to cry on or a friendly visit in a time of need. She was active throughout her life playing tennis, racquetball, bowling, softball and traveling to all 50 states and throughout Europe. Everyone loved to be around Diane with her great sense of fun, adventure, love of a good party and sense of humor. She will be remembered for her positivity and her love for her husband, kids, grandchildren, and friends. Special thanks to Christy Baker and Alvin Gee for their care in her final days.

She is survived by her husband, Ron; children, Cindy Mullen, Brian (Maria) and Jeff; 7 grandchildren; her sister, Karen (Dan) Killen and brother, Gregg. She was preceded in death by her parents, Maurice and Lola Ramstrom.
