Donald P. Bussiere, age 83, of Newport . Another American Hero has left us. He lived a full life and died peacefully at home on September 5, 2008, lovingly cared for by his family.

Donald Paul Bussiere was born January 3, 1925 in St. Paul , MN the son of Albert & Florence (Schroeder) Bussiere. After attending trade school in St. Paul to become a carpenter, Donald entered the U.S. Navy in 1942. After his term of service, he returned to the Twin Cities and married Mae L. Swanson on May 29, 1948.

Donald and Mae settled in Newport , MN in 1950 and have been there ever since. Donald owned and operated Madon Furniture Service for 45 years and was a member, as well as a former Captain, of the Newport Volunteer Fire Dept. for many years.

Donald was a devoted husband and family man. His greatest joys included being married to Mae for 60 years; his children Steve (Diane), Lynn (Dick) Barry, Lori (Bill) Dalluhn, Tim (Sue), Don (Andrea), Greg ( Nancy ), Julie (Mark) Holst; 17 grandchildren, 2 deceased; 12 great-grandchildren, 2 on the way. Donald will be greatly missed by all.
