Doug was born May 25, 1961 to Herbert and Helen (nee Swanson) Nelson in Mora, MN. Doug dedicated his life to God and to others. Whether it was family dinners, movie nights, taking them for ice cream or to the park or days at the beach, Doug was a girl dad through and through. He loved being outdoors taking his grandchildren fishing, hosting backyard BBQ’s or enjoying the summer sun relaxing on his patio. He was known as a motorhead. He loved vehicle restoration, building his motorcycle or attending swap meets, Back to the 50’s, monster trucks shows or car races with his family. Doug would make friends wherever he went whether it was with his friendly wave, his witty charm, gentle kindness or big heart, he always wanted to make others feel special.
Doug is survived by his wife Kathleen “Katie”, his daughters, Heather (Flynt), Nicki (Paul), Shawna (Eric), Bre (Willie), sister Diane, grandchildren Alexis, Ashlyn, Caden, Violet, Owen, Max, Theo and Maia, along with many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
