Eldon Woods

Eldon Woods, age 98, of Cottage Grove, passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by loved ones, July 7, 2025. 

Eldon was born May 17, 1927, in Eau Galle, Wisconsin to Sherman and Mayme (Kelly) Woods. He served in the US Army, PFC 1945-1947. He proudly worked at the St. Paul Ford Plant, UAW Local 879, starting in 1949, retiring in 1980. Eldon enjoyed woodworking and taking care of his beautiful yard in retirement. Eldon will be remembered as a humble, hardworking family man, who was a quick witted, caring, and gentle soul. 

Eldon is survived by his wife of 74 years, Dorothy (Ottman); children, Becky (Art), Susan (Roger), Steve (Gaillard), Lisa (Bob), and Dave (Bonnie); sister, Lorna; grandchildren, Bonnie (Steve), and Kevin (Jill); and great-grandchildren, Hailey, Gavin, Jacob, and Colton.

Memorial Service will be held 11 AM with visitation beginning at 10:30 AM, Friday, July 25, 2025, at Newport United Methodist Church, 1596 11th Ave, Newport, MN 55055, with luncheon to follow.
