Gladys Marie Kidder, age 99, of Maplewood, Minnesota, was born in Deer Park, Wisconsin on June 21, 1923 to Walter and Anna Wieland.  She was the second to the youngest of 11 children. Gladys grew up on a farm in New Richmond, Wisconsin, and graduated from New Richmond High School in 1941.  She enlisted in the Army in 1944.  She served as a Secretary in the 400th Army Air Force Base Unit at Hamilton Field in California during World War II, and was discharged in 1946.  Gladys married Charles Robert Kidder on July 16, 1955 in New Richmond, Wisconsin at the age of 32.  Charles was 32 as well as their birthdays are on the same day and year.  They moved to St. Paul, Minnesota and had 3 children, Bob, Nancy and Judy.

Gladys was a devoted mother to her children.  She put the needs of her children above her own and loved and protected them.  Gladys’ sweet, loving, kind nature will be missed by her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. Gladys was married to Charles for 45 years until his death in 2003.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Charles; parents Walter and Anna Wieland; and 10 brothers and sisters.  She is survived by her loving children, Bob (Roxie) Kidder, Nancy (Jim) Morgan, and Judy Kidder; 3 grandchildren; and 10 great grandchildren.

Visitation 10:00 -11:30 AM, Friday, May 26, 2023 at Kok Funeral Home, 7676 80th St. S., Cottage Grove, Minnesota 55016. Burial with Military Honors will be at 1:00 PM, Friday, May 26, 2023 at Fort Snelling National Cemetery, Minneapolis, Minnesota- Assembly Area #2.
