Glenn Eugene Boyd

Glenn Eugene Boyd, age 84, of Woodbury, Minnesota, passed away peacefully on Monday, September 4, 2023, while surrounded by his loving family and faithful dachshund companion, Baxter. Glenn is survived by his beautiful bride, Irene and son, James Boyd, Coolidge, Arizona and grandson, Ryan Boyd, Woodbury, Minnesota; three sisters, and one brother; as well as many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by son, Stephen and parents, James and Goldie Boyd.

Glenn was born October 10, 1938 in Mason City, Iowa. He grew up living next to the ninth hole of the Mason City Golf Course, and became an avid golfer at the age of eleven. He moved to Minnesota at 18 years of age to look for employment and experience life outside of a small town. He worked for the Minnesota Highway Department during which time he met and fell in love with Irene. Glenn and Irene were married June 2, 1961 and recently celebrated their 62^nd wedding anniversary. They welcomed their first son, Stephen in 1963 and then moved to St. Paul Park, where their second son, James was born in 1966.

Glenn worked for Ashland Oil for 34 years. He served the Newport Cemetery faithfully for 17 years as Superintendent. Glenn worked for Cottage Grove Middle School as an aide with the special needs students and directed traffic at the Spanish Immersion School. He also directed traffic at King of Kings, Woodbury, Minnesota during youth programming. He served as a Deacon at Cottage Grove Baptist Church and was a member of King of Kings Lutheran Church where he served faithfully. Prior to joining King of Kings, Glenn and Irene were members of Crossroads Cottage Grove.

Glenn loved to golf, spend time with Irene, as well as his family and friends and his loyal companion, Baxter.

Funeral service will be held 11 AM with gathering beginning at 10 AM, Thursday, September 14, 2023, at Crossroads Church, 7955 Ivystone Ave. S., Cottage Grove, MN 55016.

Memorials will go to Alzheimer's research.
