Harold "Harry" James Taylor Sr., passed away peacefully on Friday, October 10, 2025 while surrounded by his loving family.
Memorial Service will be 1:00 PM, Thursday, October 23, 2025 at Kok Funeral Home, 7676 80th St. S., Cottage Grove with visitation one hour prior to the service. Interment will be at the Cottage Grove Cemetery.
Harry was born January 28, 1933, in St. Paul, Minnesota and grew up on the West 7th Street neighborhood. Graduated from Monroe High School. He was united in marriage to Joni Cook on February 9, 1957, at St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church. They built their home in Cottage Grove in 1958 and moved in the following year. He started his welding career at Papercal, then he worked at Cargill/North Star Steel for many years. After retirement, he worked for River Oaks Golf Course.
He took great pride in his marriage, home, and family. Activities included hunting, fishing, boating and spending time outdoors with family and friends. There were many adventures shared. Later in life, he loved his happy hours spent with the people he loved most.
He was preceded in death by wife of 66 years, Joni; parents, Harold Taylor and Catherine Looby; sister, Jeanne; brothers, Art and Jim. Survived by children Harold "Harry" Jr. (Sherrie); David (Carri); grandchildren Tiffany (Aaron), Nicole, Crystal (Ben), Ashley (Jacob), Merissa (Joe) and Michael; step-grandchildren Mandy and Robbie (significant other Lisa); great-grandchildren Faith, Logan, Mariah, Pierce, Aria, Mace, Everett, Aurora, Cali, and Oliver; step-great grandchildren Kaydance, Lily, Preston and Lincoln; and sisters, Beverly and Joanne.
