Jean Delores Gausman was born November 5, 1932, in St. Paul, Minnesota to William and Delores (Langevin) Berdt. She grew up in St. Paul and also shared time at the family resorts, Birch Harbor and Pine Grove Lodge. She graduated from Johnson High School in 1950. Jean married her high school sweetheart, Russell Gausman on February 1, 1951, in St. Paul. While Russell was completing his military service with the Air Force, Jean worked at the St. Paul Book and Stationery. They built a home on Ivy Street where they resided for a few years and started their family. Jean kept busy with the activities of her five children through the years and maintained a loving and nurturing home. Jean was the “center hub” of the family and kept the family busy with outdoor activities and spending the summer months at the family resort. Once they moved to Cottage Grove in 1978, she worked as a receptionist at 3M for 15 years before her retirement. They were members of Hazel Park Congregational Church and longtime active members at Cottage Grove UCC.
Jean enjoyed cross-stitch, drawing, going “boutiquing” and painting as well as vacationing in Sanibel, Florida. She loved her family dearly and will be missed.
Jean is survived by her children Roxanne (Paul) White, David (Sue) Gausman, Claudia (Frenchy) Dampier, Paul Gausman, Matt (Becca) Gausman; grandchildren Brad, Patrick (Stacy), Alison, Meghan, Sean (Josie), Michael, Brian, Caroline; great-grandchildren Molly, Kieran, Madelyn, Abby, Emelia and Cael as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
