Joanne C. (Bruehling) Markel

September 8, 1940-June 27, 2022

Joanne (Bruehling) Markel age 81 passed away peacefully at home. She was a loving wife, mother, grandma and friend.

Joanne was born in Jump River, WI. Her family moved to Minnesota when she was very young. She graduated from No. St Paul High School. After graduation she started her first job and it was there that she met Ed. They were married in 1959 and had three children. Joanne enjoyed time with her family and friends at their cabin in Northern MN. She retired from the Railroad (BNSF) after 31 years of service and became widowed shortly after, when Ed passed peacefully at home in 2002. Joanne enjoyed bowling, traveling with friends and time with her family and dog Pearl. Joanne said she lived a fulfilled life!

Preceded in death by husband Ed; son Michael; brother Jim; parents and other relatives and friends. Survived by son Edward Markel (Peggy), daughter Noreen Markel (Jay Naruciewicz); grandchildren Jamie (Jeremy) Littlefield, Brian Markel, Anthony (Kayla) Markel and Shawn (Samantha) Naruciewicz: great grandchildren Crystal, Cameron, Cayden, Colten, Collin, Leland and Lanessa; brother Richard Bruehling; as well as other relatives.

A visitation will be held on Thursday, July 7, 2022 4pm-7pm at Kok Funeral Home (7676 80th Street South, Cottage Grove.) A funeral service will be held for Joanne on Friday, July 8, 2022 at 10:30am at Kok Funeral home. She will be laid to rest at Fort Snelling National Cemetery.
