Joel Williams

Joel Williams, age 34 of Newport, passed away peacefully on February 17, 2018 at Woodwinds Hospital following a courageous struggle with cancer.

Funeral service will be 2 pm, Friday, February 23, 2018 at Kok Funeral Home, 7676 – 80th Street S., Cottage Grove with visitation starting at 12 Noon.  Interment will be in the Newport Cemetery.

Joel was born on May 22, 1983 to his two loving parents Joe and Deborah.  He grew up in Newport, MN with his two brothers Eric and Tony, and graduated from Woodbury High School.  He settled into a career at HealthEast and lived in Woodbury for a number of years.  He was a passionate music lover, skilled card player, and a wonderful person.   Most of all, he was a great friend to many people, and a beloved member of our family.  Joel could easily light up a room of any size with his infectious laughter and was always the life of the party.  He was ever the instigator of a good time and possessed a wit and charm that was truly unique.  He was both highly intelligent and creative, and was a good hearted and compassionate man.   His spirit was truly one of a kind and his demeanor was always upbeat and light, and could always find the good in any situation.  We would like to thank the long list of individuals who offered their care and aid in Joel’s fight, and especially to Emily, his rock and beloved.   Joel will be sorely missed by both his family, and the countless lives he has touched over the years.  We will miss you and love you always.

Joel is survived by his father Joe, and brothers Eric and Tony.  He is preceded in death by his mother Deborah, as well as his grandparents Earnie and Rita.  His one of a kind spirit and sense of humor will be sorely missed by the many fortunate enough to have been graced by his friendship.
