John "Jack" Brittain

John "Jack" Brittain, age 85 of Cottage Grove, Minnesota formerly of Lexington, Kentucky passed away peacefully on November 28, 2025.

John Earl Brittain was born on October 13, 1940 to Earl and Annie (Wishall) Brittain in Coffeyville, Kansas. The majority of his younger years were in Wichita, Kansas. He went on to graduate from Wichita State with a degree in electrical engineering. John married the love of his life on January 27, 1968 in Bay City, Michigan. They made their home in Lexington, Kentucky raising their two sons. He worked at IBM for over 25 years retiring in 1995. In recent years, John and June moved to Cottage Grove, Minnesota to be closer to family as he courageously battled Parkinson's disease. 

Over the years John enjoyed collecting stamps and coins, gardening, traveling especially road trips to visit family and was close to having visited almost all 50 states. He was a member of Pax Christi Catholic Church in Lexington, KY for many years. Since moving to Minnesota walks along the river became a highlight for him. Through it all, the center of his life revolved around spending time with his family. He leaves behind a legacy of love and will be deeply missed.

John is survived by his wife of 57 years June; two sons Tom (Alicia) and Ken; grandchildren Stephen, Shaun, Kayla and Justin (Lyndsay); great grandchildren Kennedy and Callen; siblings Sister Janelle Ann Brittain, Marilyn (Vern) Raines and Patti (Dick) Pelz as well as numerous nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents Earl and Annie Brittain.

Mass of Christian Burial will be 11 AM on Friday, December 19, 2025 with visitation beginning at 10 AM at Church of St. Rita, 8694 80th St. S. Cottage Grove, MN. All are invited to a luncheon following the service.
