John Fransen, age 70, of Cottage Grove, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, February 25, 2026, in the comfort of his home.
John was born and raised on the east side of St. Paul to Leonard and Audrey Fransen. He married his beloved wife, Gayle, in May of 1978, and together they shared 47 years of marriage.
John loved the outdoors and enjoyed spending time with friends and family through activities such as camping, hiking, fishing, hunting, and golfing. He especially loved traveling to the North Shore of Lake Superior, where he could take in the scenery and enjoy time with those he loved.
John was very proud of his five grandchildren. He absolutely loved being a grandfather and cherished every moment he spent with his grandkids. When he wasn’t with them, he was likely sharing stories or proudly showing pictures to anyone who would listen.
John is preceded in death by his parents, Leonard and Audrey Fransen. He is survived by his loving wife, Gayle (née Falzone); his sons, Nicholas (Ciara) and Tony (Jasha); his grandchildren, Knox, River, Lena, Solen, and Leland; his siblings, Greg (Joy), Laurie (Larry) Gray, Brian (Leslie), and Bruce (Janet); and many other loving family and friends.
