John "Jack" Sherer

Age 74, of Cottage Grove,

Died peacefully in his sleep Thursday, November 9, 2023. Jack was born July 8, 1949 in St. Paul to Bing and Vi (Meier) Sherer. He grew up in St. Paul with his 6 siblings. In 1967 he graduated from St. Bernards High School. On May 16, 1970 he married Pati Schmidt. Together they bought their first home in Cottage Grove and raised 5 wonderful children. Jack worked most of his life in the autobody industry. Some of his interests included: stock car racing, hunting, fishing, camping, cards (poker, 500, and Euchre), woodworking, photography, and sitting by the bonfire listening to music (especially Johnny Cash).

But his true passion was spending time with family and friends. Throughout the years he stayed in touch with High School friends and was very close with his many friends, cousins, aunts and uncles. Jack loved to entertain people with his witty sense of humor and always had a story or joke to share

Jack was a beautiful person, devoted husband, loving dad, proud grandpa, and great friend. He will truly be missed by all that knew and loved him.

Jack is survived by wife, Pati; children, Lori (Dudley) Peno, Brandi (Dave) Bushinger, Erica (Jason) Sullivan, John Sherer, and Kelly Sherer; grandchildren, Erich (Danielle), Cody (Yesenia), Corinna, Abby (Rob), Zach, Lukas (Robyn), Dillon (Dallis), Austin, Liam, Jack, Caleb, Salena (Justin), and Kyler; great-grandchildren, Olivia, Elijah, Eliza, and Maci; siblings, Kathy Pekarek, Roger Sherer, Bob Sherer, Gail (Steve) Burvee, Bonnie Waters, and many nieces, nephews, special friends and the Wrisky Family.

Jack is preceded in death by his parents, Donald and Viola and his brother, Donald.

There will be a visitation held from 3-6pm on Sunday, November 19th at Kok Funeral Home (7676 80^th Street S, Cottage Grove, MN 55016). A memorial mass will be held the following day on Monday, November 20th at 11am with an hour visitation prior at The Church of Saint Rita (8694 80th St S, Cottage Grove, MN 55016).
