John J. Marich Sr. age 87 of Cottage Grove, passed away on Tuesday, August 17, 2021.

John was born in St. Paul to Mary (Kasprowicz) and Michael Marich on January 21, 1934. He spent his early childhood on a farm in Northeastern Minnesota, before moving to South Saint Paul where he attended school. John served in the Korean War from 1951 to 1954. He married Delores Jurgensen on February 4, 1956 in Saint Paul, they spent 65 years together.

John was an active member of the American Legion for 60 years and a proud Army Veteran. He was a great fisherman and enjoyed hunting with his son. John enjoyed spending his summers on the lake with his wife, children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. Above all else, John was a family man, he spent all the time he could around those he loved.

John is survived by his wife, Delores; children, Jeffrey (Kim) and Nancy Barslou; grandchildren, Steven (Carla), Danielle (Eric), Tara (Darwyn) and Jayden; great grandchildren, Natalie, Courtney, Darwyn, Nevaeh, Killian, and Rowan.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Mike and Mary Marich and brother, David.

A funeral service for John will be held on Thursday, August 26, 2021 at 11am at Kok Funeral Home (7676 80th street South Cottage Grove, MN). Visitation will be held one hour prior to the funeral and on Wednesday, August 25, 2021 4pm-6pm at Kok Funeral Home.
