John Patrick Oyer

John Oyer, age 95, passed away peacefully on Thursday, July 16, 2026.

John was raised and worked on a farm with a big family in rural Minnesota. He joined the Army and served in the Korean War before returning home where he married Patricia "Patty" Regan in 1953. He was a hard worker and a great protector; he always provided for his family.

He was a dedicated member of St. John Lutheran Church in Woodbury, taking great care of the grounds and the people there. He had many friends at St. John's.

He was a wonderful and attentive grandpa and great-grandpa, always making sure the kids were cared for and had an activity to do. Whether it was bringing them to church to watch Scooby-Doo while he did work around the grounds or building a ramp for his grandsons to jump their bikes off of, he was always there for them. He instilled a strong work ethic in his family, teaching them to fix cars and ride their bikes. He loved his family very much and will be missed by them all.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Patty Oyer in 1988.

He is survived by his daughter, Jonette Oyer; grandchildren, Jay Oyer, Jayson Hunt and Theresa Hunt; and great-grandchild, Keira Dalton.

Funeral service will be at 12 PM with visitation beginning at 11 AM at St. John Lutheran Church 1975 St. John’s Drive, Woodbury, Minnesota 55129. Burial to follow at Saint John Lutheran Cemetery 1415 St Johns Dr, Woodbury, Minnesota 55129.
