Judith Woods

September 21, 1946 — January 18, 2023

Judy Woods, 76, passed away peacefully Wednesday, January 18th, 2023, after a lengthy fight with many complex health issues. She was surrounded by her loved ones.

Judy was a staunch and passionate advocate for the community in which she lived, and devoted much of her free time, energetic solutions, and care to many causes, including her commitments to Newport Planning Commission and Newport City Council. She was also active with the Girl Scouts of St. Croix Valley when her daughters were young, the Newport Volunteer Fire Department Women's' Auxiliary, D.A.R.E. with the Newport Police Department, and in her later years, served on the Newport Business Association, formed to help revitalize businesses along Highway 61. She also volunteered with the St. Paul Park/Newport Lioness/Lions Club.

Judy will also be remembered and missed by many of the families whose children were in her care as a childcare provider for over 20 years. Judy also made many special friends wherever she went, and especially enjoyed time with them, whether it was with the bowling leagues, camping at the lake, playing games, and hosting fun events.

She is preceded in death by parents Gordy and Ethel Albertson, siblings Susie and Larry (Duluth), and husband Bob. She is survived by her partner Bill, children Bobbi Jo and Sandra, and grandson Brandon.

A celebration of lifetime will be held Thursday, March 30th, 7:00 p.m., at Newport Lutheran Church.
