Kenneth “Kenny” Mann, age 84, died peacefully at home on Saturday, September 12, 2026. Kenny was born in Red Wing, Minnesota to Frank and Lucille Mann. They moved to Cottage Grove in 1957. In 1967, he opened Ken’s Phillip’s 66 Station in Newport which he owned and operated for four years. He then worked as a mechanic at McNamara Cycle in South Saint Paul for a number years. In 1976, he started his own excavating and trucking company, Mann Excavating. He continued working and driving trucks for the company into his 80’s.
Kenny was an avid stock car racer that took him all over Minnesota, Wisconsin, and Canada. He won a number of championships throughout his years racing. He loved cars all his life.
Kenny’s grandchildren and great-grandchildren brought great joy to his life. He was preceded in death by parents, Frank and Lucille; and sister-in-law, Elaine Mann.
He is survived by his son, Tracy (Rhonda); grandchildren, Tyler, Ashley (Cody) Lentz, and Katelyn (Luke) Schilmoeller; seven great-grandchildren; siblings, Kathy (Bill) Lewanovich, Rich (Cheryl), Gerry, and Cheri; nieces and nephews, Andrea Johnson, Ryan (Jessica) Johnson, Troy (Angela), and Chrystal (Ryan), Richard, Christine (Dustin) Davis, Angie (Justin) Zirtzlaff, and Cora (Keith) Huber.
Kenny is also survived by his dear friend, and former wife, Rhonda Kay Mann; her son, Michael (Jamie) Mann; and grandchildren, Tristan (Emilee), Victoria, and Gabriel. As well as, Stacey Marohn, who was like a daughter to him and held a special place in his heart.
Gathering of family and friends will take place 4:00 – 7:00 PM, Tuesday, September 22, 2026 at Kok Funeral Home, 1201 Portland Avenue, Saint Paul Park, Minnesota 55071. Private burial will take place at Newport Cemetery at a later date.
