LaVerne Christensen

July 16, 1945 — January 7, 2018

LaVerne Christensen, our loving wife, mother, mother-in-law, grandmother and great-grandmother, passed away January 7, 2018 at the age 72.

A memorial visitation will be 5-8 pm, Friday, January 12, 2018 at Kok Funeral Home, 1201 Portland Avenue, St. Paul Park.  A celebration of her life will be from 12-3 pm on Saturday, January 13, 2018 at the American Legion Post 98, 328 Broadway Avenue, St. Paul Park.

LaVerne was born July 16, 1945 in Hayward, Wisconsin at the Indian Hospital to William and Carrie (Matrious) Bearhart.  She grew up in Danbury, Wisconsin where she spent her childhood.  LaVerne was united in marriage to Edward Christensen on March 6, 1964 and they lived in St. Paul until 1973 when they moved to Cottage Grove and raised their family.  LaVerne was a proud member of the St. Croix Chippewa Tribe.

LaVerne worked as a hair dresser, enjoyed playing pool, going to the casino, but her favorite thing was spending time with her beloved family and friends.  She enjoyed taking care of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who brought much happiness to her life.  She was a fun loving lady with a great sense of humor and a heart of gold.  She had a unique way of making you laugh or cry, she cared and loved unconditionally and will be greatly missed by everyone who knew and loved her…especially her family.

She is preceded in death by her parents; siblings Irene, Celo, William “Sonk”, Tony, Morris and Gary “Dean”.  Laverne is survived by her husband Edward Sr., children Tammy (Steve) Stotzheim, Edward Jr. (Loni); grandchildren Brandon Toenyan and Justin (Kelly) Toenyan; great-grandchildren Wyatt, Kendall and Lincoln Toenyan.

Soar with the eagles, Weezy!  We know who is the best – You!
