Les Delano Krebsbach, age 92, of Newport, passed away peacefully at home on Wednesday, August 27, 2025.
Les was born in New Ulm MN in 1933, while Grandpa worked building roads for the county. In 1941 they moved to St. Paul's east side. In 1963 dad moved the family to Newport, were he lived until his passing.
At the age of 17 he started working at Whirlpool, worked his way up to being Millwright and worked there for 33 years, while working a second job at the Hamms brewery, upgrading machinery. After leaving Whirlpool he worked for Stone container for 10 years, then He built and owned the Newport car wash.
Dad had a passion for life from the beginning. In his teens and early twenties, he built and raced dirt track cars. He had a passion for Music and played Saxaphone with his dad at weddings and later with other bands, he played at the 620 club Friday and Saturday nights for 25 years. He owned a plane with a friend and loved to fly. He also owned a Harley motorcycle and rode it to Sturgis SD, what a great week that was. He truly loved his 1973 Corvette Sting Ray and when he was 88 years old, he pulled the engine and totally rebuilt it by himself. He was known to have said he wanted to be buried in it.
Dad absolutely loved working in the yard. There was tree that had died and needed to be cut down. He saw a totem pole hiding in it. So that's what he did the following winter, he revealed the totem pole hiding within. Dad was always very active and rode his bicycle on many MS 150 rides to Duluth along with Iron Man rides. He coached the Girls softball team. He LOVED playing poker, both with family and in Las Vegas, he was very good at reading people.
We want to send a special thanks to Accent Hospice and all for their compassionate caring service to Dad.
He was truly the best person I have ever known.
