Loren Reichstadt

Loren H. Reichstadt, 62 of Cottage Grove, passed away on Monday, April 19, 2010 at Regions Hospital in St. Paul, following a short illness.





A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, April 23, 2010 at Emanuel Lutheran Church in Inver Grove Heights, with the Reverend Tom Evans, officiating. Burial will be in Fort Snelling National Cemetery. The Kok Funeral Home of Cottage Grove is in charge of the arrangements.





Loren H. Reichstadt was born November 12, 1947 in Saint Paul, Minnesota, the son of Arthur and Frieda (Mundt) Reichstadt. He grew up on a farm near Inver Grove and assisted in the Reichstadt Family Store, while attending Simley High School. He was drafted during the Vietnam War, served in the United States Army and received two Purple Hearts. He was united in marriage to Rien Narnkratoke in 1968, the couple had three children and Loren was employed at American National Can Company.


On December 27, 1995 he married Fatma Gulum Baltaci. The couple lived internationally and in 1998 moved to Cottage Grove. Following retirement after 28 years with American National Can, Loren became self-employed in the residential cleaning business. He especially enjoyed time with his family, playing cards, trips to the casino, camping and gardening. Loren was a dedicated father, a practical joker and the life of the party.





He is survived by his wife, Fatma Gulum Reichstadt of Cottage Grove, son, Tony Reichstadt of Newport, his daughters, Sabrena (Jeff) Black of Leander, Texas, Tami (Guy) Branham of Riverview, Florida, Theresa and Katrena Reichstadt both at home, his brothers, Melvin (Virginia) of Spring Lake Park, Ronald of Holton, WI, Arthur (Carolyn) of Lindstrom, MN, Lyle (Janice) Reichstadt of St. Paul Park, his sisters, Karen Krueger of Inver Grove Heights and Marjorie Brutger of South St. Paul, his grandchildren, Hunter, Caleb, Jaret and Gabriel.





He was preceded in death by his parents.
