Margaret "Peggy" Dora Phenicie, age 79, of Cottage Grove, passed away on Thursday, October 16, 2025. She was born to the late Floyd JR and Dora (Sloan) Stephenson on October 15, 1946, in Natrona Heights, PA.
A funeral service will be 11:30 am, Wednesday, November 5, 2025 at Kok Funeral Home, 7676 80th Street S., Cottage Grove. Family will greet friends starting at 9:30 am until the time of service. Peggy will be laid to rest at Fort Snelling National Cemetery beside her husband.
Peggy enlisted in the Army right after high school, becoming a nurse and serving during Vietnam. In October of 1966, while stationed at Fort Bragg in North Carolina. Peggy met Thomas Allen Phenicie. The two quickly started dating and married the year after on June 23, 1967. The couple would later have two daughters, Julie and Jennifer, and make their home in Cottage Grove. When she Honorably discharge from the service, she got a job at Ramsey Hospital where she worked for many years.
In her free time, Peggy enjoyed ceramics, crochet, sewing. She was also an avid reader and had a tremendous love for the MN Vikings and the color purple. In her younger years, Peggy also enjoyed spending time at the cabin in McGregor, MN fishing. As history buff, Peggy, and her family, enjoyed traveling, especially to historic sites and battlefields such as those from the Civil War.
Peggy is survived by her daughters, Julie Phenicie and Jennifer (John) Jaso II; grandchildren, Tyler White, John Jaso III, and Grace Jaso; sister, Gloria Stephenson; and many nieces, nephews, and friends.
Peggy is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Tom; parents Floyd Jr and Dora, siblings, Charles Stephenson, Betty Lou Stephenson, Samuel Stephenson, Carol Stoughton, and Judith Kohler; In-laws, Carlos and Laura Phenicie; and niece, Shannon Parks.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly asks that you send memorial contributions to Kok Funeral Home to help cover expenses.
The family would like to Thank Allina Hospice Team, Visiting Angels Maplewood and Little Canada offices for their help in caring for Peggy.
