Marion was born in Almena, Wisconsin on June 4, 1938 to her parents Egner and Alma Ruff. Her only sister, Loretta, was born the following summer on July 29, 1939. Marion graduated high school in 1956 and met her husband, Leroy Archie Herman in the summer of 1956. Their first child, Sandy, was born in March of 1957, followed by their son Butch in September of 1959. They settled in Cottage Grove, MN in 1960 and lived at this address until the fall of 2018, when they moved to a senior living facility at Norris Square in Cottage Grove. There, they rented a large, beautiful apartment less than a mile away from their family home.
Marion was a very popular hairstylist in Hastings for many years. She loved animals and was passionate about treating them kindly and with respect.
Marion’s main passion was antiquing and she acquired immense knowledge of the history and value of her favorite types of antiques – glass and pottery. Marion and Roy had many pets over the years and their most precious furry friends were Barney and Annie, two very cute Yorkies. They spent over a decade as snowbirds, spending their winters in Hot Springs Village, Arkansas. They enjoyed spending time with each other and they traveled to Europe three times, the last trip being in 1986 for their son’s wedding in Darmstadt, Germany. They also enjoyed trips to Paris and Amsterdam, Switzerland and Austria in 1982.
Marion was predeceased by her parents, her sister Loretta, her Grannie Kent, her Aunt Frieda and several more beloved cousins and relatives. She is survived by her husband Roy, her daughter Sandra Herman of Cottage Grove, her son Butch and his wife Yvonne of Cottage Grove, her grandchildren Christina Jones and her husband Chad of Missouri, Jeffrey Lee and partner Kelly Wilson of Cottage Grove, Rebecca Murphy and husband Mike, Nicholas Herman and partner Mikayla, both from Woodbury, MN, Allyson Herman and husband Michael of Cottage Grove, her great-grandchildren Lillian, Madelyn, Josephine, Benjamin, Vivienne and Sarafina.
