Passed away peacefully in her sleep on Sunday, August 16, 2026, surrounded by the love of her family.
Marlys was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. She was married to the love of her life, Buford Flesland, for 69 years. Together they built a life centered around family, faith, love, and countless memories.
Above all else, Marlys lived for her family. She was truly the glue that held the family together, always making sure everyone felt loved, welcomed, and included. If someone didn't have a place to go for a holiday or special occasion, they could always count on having a place at Marlys' table. Her home and her heart were always open.
Marlys loved spending time with her family and attending her children and grandchildren's sporting events. She also enjoyed fishing and was very active in her church, giving generously of her time through church activities and volunteer work. She found purpose in helping others and was always willing to lend a hand.
She had a wonderful outlook on life and was known for her positivity, warmth, and great sense of humor. She had a way of making people feel comfortable and cared for, and her laughter and kindness will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
Marlys is survived by her husband of 69 years, Buford Flesland; daughter, Lori Flesland, and her children, Jeremy “Camille” May and Melanie May; and daughter, Jennifer Mlodzik, and her children, Jason (Rachel) Mlodzik, Jordan Mlodzik, and Samantha Mlodzik. She is also survived by her brother, Dean (Dianne) Tammen; as well as many great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and their families.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Simon and Clara Tammen; and her brother, Wayne (Janice) Tammen.
Marlys leaves behind a family spanning many generations, but perhaps her greatest legacy is the love and togetherness she created among them. The traditions she built, the holidays she filled with warmth, the sporting events she proudly attended, the meals shared around her table, and the countless acts of kindness she gave so freely will live on in the hearts of those who loved her.
She will be deeply missed, forever loved, and always remembered.
Her table may no longer be set, but the love she gathered around it will remain with her family forever.
