Mary Jean Hernandez

February 4, 1993 — November 29, 2025

Cottage Grove, Minnesota

Mary Jean Hernandez, 32, passed away on November 29, 2025, leaving behind a family and community who loved her deeply and will forever feel her absence. Born on February 4, 1993, Mary grew into a kind, creative, and quietly radiant soul whose presence brought warmth, humor, and generosity to everyone around her.

From a young age, Mary showed exceptional artistic talent. Whether sketching, painting, or crafting, she used her art to express a gentle heart and a vivid imagination. Her creativity was matched only by her compassion—especially her love for animals. Caring for them brought her joy and she approached each creature with patience and tenderness.

Mary cared fiercely for her family and friends. She was silly, funny, and deeply sarcastic in a way that made others laugh even in difficult moments. Though quiet at times, she had a warm wit and a giving spirit. She was known for showering her loved ones with thoughtful birthday gifts every year—never missing a celebration and always choosing something that made others feel seen and appreciated.

Among those she cherished most were her niece and nephews, whom she adored and took immense pride in. She lit up around them, and they loved their Tía Mary dearly.

Mary is survived by her loving parents, Julie Hernandez and John Hernandez; her siblings Liz Hernandez, Tessa Hernandez and her partner CJ Johnson, Samantha Hernandez and her partner Brandon Paddock, and Gabriel Hernandez and his wife Megan Hernandez, and Alexis Hernandez. She is also survived by her beloved nephews Alex, Oliver, and Martin, and niece Ramona and many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.

Mary’s absence leaves a quiet but powerful ache in the hearts of those who knew her. Her humor, her kindness, her artistic spirit, and her unwavering love for her family and friends will be remembered always.

The family will be hosting a Celebration of Life for Mary on Saturday, December 13, 2PM-4PM CT. Location: Woodbury Central Park, 8595 Central Park Pl, St Paul, MN 55125 - Room Woodlands A.
