Maxine Daniels

September 15, 1950 — December 28, 2018

Maxine Daniels, age 68, of Cottage Grove, passed away December 28, 2018, with family by her side.

Funeral service will be 4 pm, Saturday, January 5, 2018 at Kok Funeral Home, 7676 80th Street S., Cottage Grove with visitation for one hour prior to the service.

Maxine was born September 15, 1950, in South Bend, Indiana to Mack and Willa Mae Wallace.  She graduated from Central High School in South Bend in 1968.  Shortly after she married Johnny B. Daniels and they had three beautiful children.  She moved to Chicago in 1975, where she was a model and started a nursing career until moving to Minnesota in 1985 to serve as a supervisor for ABM.  Her true talents and passions were taking care of children, braiding hair and crocheting.   After retiring, she babysat all the neighborhood kids to make sure their mothers could go to work or school to better themselves.  She always told you exactly how she felt.  You always knew where you stood with her and she never held anything back.  She loved to feed people and help people.  For the holidays, she cooked for the whole neighborhood and was able to make friends with anyone and people always congregated to her.  She was a surrogate mother and grandma to so many.  If you needed her to do anything, she was always there for you.  Her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren were truly what she lived for.

Maxine is preceded in death by her parents, Mack and Willa Mae along with step-father, Johnnie Jenkins; husband, Johnny B. Daniels; sisters, Gwendolyn Lewis, Patricia Mitchell and Lela Faye Wallace; brother, Jerry Jenkins; son-in-law, Louis Davis; and grandson, Xavier Daniels. Survivors left to cherish her memory include daughters, Margaret (fiancé Richard Dalton) Daniels and Angela Daniels; son, Johnny (Shannon) Daniels; grandsons, Johnny, Raymond, Tyshaun, Joseph, and Maleek; granddaughters, Rachel, Anquinetta, I’Zena, Kumari, Ashley, Carla and Shawuna; 19 great grandchildren; sister, Debra Jenkins; brothers, Sherman Wallace and Johnny Jenkins, along with a host of other friends and relatives.
