Michael Babatunde Adepegba, age 79, died unexpectedly, Wednesday, January 28, 2026. Michael was born in Lagos, Nigeria to Prince Stephen Akanji Adepegba and Cecilia Oshodi.
Michael worked as an educator and behavioral mental health counselor. He loved to read and tutor. He loved to help people, both in his personal and professional life, always trying to motivate people to find their direction to get the most out of life. His advice, counsel, and guidance will be missed by his loved ones. He touched lives in ways that will never be forgotten. His generous presence brough comfort, and his absence is deeply felt.
He loved to be around people and share his life with others - spending much of his time in Nigeria and the United States. Wherever Michael was, there was laughter. He loved sincerely and lived with a heart filled with compassion, faith, and grace. He lived a faithful and trustworthy life, selflessly and unattached to material things, always moving forward with purpose. In his faith, he believed that you did not have to be rich to be selfless. He was quick to support and always forgave others. He accepted his mistakes and others with grace. His generosity will be deeply missed by everyone who knew him.
Michael was also a pillar of strength as well as a disciplinarian - especially when it came to education. He held strict accountability with his family which left a positive impact and inspired others to strive to be better. He left many lessons that will never be forgotten.He was known as Babe Kekere (meaning small father) to the children in his family. He was deeply loved and will be greatly missed. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife; his parents; his siblings; and other cherished family members and friends.
He leaves to cherish his memory his children: Oluwakemi, Adebayo, Adeyemi, and Adedayo; three grandchildren; his brothers and sisters; as well as many other extended family members and dear friends.
Wake keeping at the residence will begin at 5 PM, Thursday, March 5, 2026 at 9879 89th St. S., Cottage Grove, MN 55016 (Use Google Maps). Services will continue the following day with the Mass of Christian Burial at 11 AM with visitation beginning at 10 AM, Friday, March 6, 2026 at St. Peter Claver Catholic Church, 369 Oxford St. N., St. Paul, MN 55104. Graveside service to follow at Resurrection Cemetery, 2101 Lexington Ave. S., Mendota Heights, MN 55120. There will be a reception following the burial until 9 PM at Country Inn & Suites by Radisson, 8350 E. Point Douglas Rd. S., Cottage Grove, MN 55016.
