Michael Horvath

Michael "Mike" Horvath, age 71, passed away peacefully on Saturday, August 15, 2026.

Mike was born on the East Side of Saint Paul, Minnesota to John and Mary Horvath. Throughout his childhood he could always be found at Hayden Heights Rec Center, playing all types of sports with his friends. He graduated from Hill-Murray High School and afterward began working at the Met Council in St. Paul where he remained working until he retired in 2013.

Mike was a lifelong sports fan, especially for the Hill-Murray High School Pioneers hockey team, where he played during his high school years. He was also an avid North Stars Hockey and Vikings fan. He enjoyed playing golf with his dad and annual sports trips with his lifelong friends. He traveled anywhere for a baseball or football game, especially to Chicago, Milwaukee and Green Bay.

Mike met Colleen in 1975 at Jimbo's Bar, and they got married November 1976. Together they had two boys, and Mike was always involved in their sports. Mike was a hard worker with great work ethics. He provided well for his family, and he was well-liked with many lifelong friends. He was a quiet, gentle man who was always there when others needed help. There was nothing he wouldn't do for others.

He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Mary Horvath; and older brother, Greg Horvath.

He is survived by his wife, Colleen Horvath; sons, James (Emily) Horvath and Corey Horvath; grandchildren, Dominic and Kayla Horvath; sister, Diane Horvath; sister-in-law, Robin Beseth.

Celebration of Life will be held 11 AM with visitation beginning at 10 AM, Saturday, August 22, 2026, at Kok Funeral Home 7676 80th Street S. Cottage Grove, Minnesota 55016.
