Michelle Prior, age 50 of Newport, died unexpectedly on April 30, 2020 due to complications from diabetes.
Michelle Lee Prior was born August 15, 1969 in St. Paul, Minnesota to Robert and Marie (Franks) Prior. She grew up in Cottage Grove and graduated from Park High School in 1988. Michelle loved children and took a position at Children’s World where she served as a classroom teacher and assistant director until 2003. She was also employed at Blue Cross for a few years. Most recently Michelle worked at HyVee as a cashier.
Michelle was an avid reader of a variety of genres, but especially loved reading Stephen King and Anne McCaffrey books. She enjoyed crafts and exploring her ancestry. She will be remembered for her beautiful voice and her care for her beloved dachshund, Zoey.
Survived by daughter Elizabeth Porcello; granddaughter Alita; parents Robert and Marie; sisters Barbara (Rich) DeMars, Sue (Kurt) Schwedler, Julie (Dan Danielson) Naylor as well as many aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.
Memorial service will be 11 am, Thursday, June 25, 2020 at Crossroads Church, 7955 Ivystone Ave. S. Cottage Grove.
