Age 81, of Newport died Tuesday night January 1, 2013.

Rita was born December 15, 1931 in St. Francis, Minnesota the daughter of Joseph & Mary (Tobroxen) Roering. She was raised in Upsala and graduated from Upsala High School in 1950. She was a writer and singer.
Preceded in death by husband Earnest; daughters-in-law Deb & Sue; sisters Loretta Jansen, Irene Albers; brother Lawrence Roering; parents Mary & Joseph Roering. Beloved mother of Rosetta, Bill, Joel, Lori, Lynda Johnson, Brenda Hocking; grandchildren Jesse, Misty, Shannon, Jason, Kristy, Joel, Eric, Tony, Brandon, Amanda, Alyssa, Jake, April, Pat, Garrett; great-grandchildren Helayna, Haven, Nevaeh, Cameron, Alex, Matthew, Deven, Lilly Eleanor; sister Monica Jagiello, brother Norbert Roering.
Mass of Christian Burial 11 AM Wednesday with visitation starting at 9:30 at ST. THOMAS AQUINAS CATHOLIC CHURCH, 920 Holley, St. Paul Park. Interment Newport Cemetery.
