Robert "Bob" Wacker

Robert “Bob” Wacker, age 57 of Cottage Grove, passed away unexpectedly on December 3, 2019 at home due to natural causes.

Funeral service will be 1:30 pm, Saturday, December 7, 2019 at Kok Funeral Home, 7676 80th Street S., Cottage Grove with visitation from at 11 am until the time of service.

Robert was born in South St. Paul on June 12, 1962 to William and Patricia (Mulhern) Wacker.  He was the 8th of 9 children and graduated from South St. Paul High School in 1980.  He attended Iowa State for a short time and while on a summer break he met the love of his life Barb Gagnier.  They were married on April 13, 1985 at St. John Vianney Catholic Church.  Bob completed his degree in Mathematics and Computer Science at the University of Minnesota the following year and moved to Cottage Grove in 1987.

Among the many things that Bob enjoyed were golfing, cooking and fishing.  Bob was the “glue” that kept the family together and his humor and calm nature made everyone feel important.  His organization of “Doggie Days” was to bring his family together at the end of every summer to keep the spirit and traditions alive that his parents created on “Wacker Island.”

He found joy in taking care of people and loved caring for and taking care of his beloved wife.  Bob worked in the trucking and transportation industry his whole career including the last 28 years at Fed Ex.

He is survived by his wife of 34 years Barb; son Joe (Kelsey); siblings Bill (Adella), Kathy (Bob) Bernu; Mary (Rick) Hill, Eileen (Barry) O’Rourke, Therese (Chuck) Price, Tom (Joyce), Nancy (Paul) Androschko, Laure (Dan) Siebrasse as well as his beloved nieces and nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews.
