Shirley Sauers

December 15, 1928 — June 10, 2009

Shirley Mae McLeod Sauers went to be with her heavenly father suddenly on June 10, 2009 .





Shirley was born on December 15, 19 28 in Superior , Wisconsin to Hannah (Bodine) & Alexander McLeod. Shirley graduated from East High School in Superior in 1946. She completed Beauty School but found that she preferred waitressing at the Federal Bakery. In 1949 she married her Sea Bees sweetheart, Marvin Sauers. As a young adult, she committed her life to Jesus Christ and used her talents to serve others. She had a beautiful alto voice & enjoyed singing gospel music.



Shirley & Marvin raised their 4 children in Bagley , MN where they attended the Congregational Church. She worked many years as a teacher’s aide at the Bagley Elem. School and she and Marvin owned the Bagley King Koin Laundromat. In 1979 they moved to St. Paul Park , MN . They were active members of The Harbor Church in Hastings , volunteering in many areas of the church. In the 1980’s Shirley worked part-time for the 3M Company. Her special joys in life were helping others and homemaking.



She is survived by her children Marvin “Chip” (Gloria), Jeanette (Roger) Lee, Gary (Kari), and Mark; grandchildren



Minsan, Maselan, Paris, Aeron, Ryan, Matt, Beth, Emaly, Quinn, Rhiannon, Sarah; great-grandchildren Clarisse, Duncan, William, Jeremiah, Zachariah, Mara, Haley, Lexi, Marin, Jackson, Reice, Addyson, Gavin, Jaystin, many nieces & nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband Marvin; her parents, sisters Alice, Florence , Marion , Lucille, Corinne, and brother Eugene. Funeral Service 2 PM Tuesday June 16 at THE HARBOR CHURCH , 11125 Pt. Douglas Dr. S. Hastings . Interment Ft. Snelling . Visitation 4-8 PM Monday at KOK FUNERAL HOME, 7676 80 TH S. Cottage Grove (651-459-2875) and 1-2 PM Tuesday at church. The family prefers memorials to The Harbor Church. Her family celebrates her walk of faith, her life serving Christ, her love of family and others. We are at peace knowing she is at home in heaven.
