Steven "Steve" Morse

Steven "Steve" Morse, age 78 of St. Paul Park, Minnesota passed away peacefully on October 4, 2026.

Steve was born on February 25, 1948 to Harry and Ida (Cooley) Morse in Mason City, Iowa. He trained as a draftsman for a short time before beginning his lifelong career working with large equipment for 32 years. Steve also faithfully devoted 18 years to caring for Newport Cemetery in Newport, MN serving as its caretaker and several years as the president of the cemetery association.

Steve enjoyed building and creating in wood and metal, his hands always busy. When not building toys, he was an avid hunter, fisherman and period re-enactor. He taught himself taxidermy, creating a mini museum in his basement. Steve loved talking to others, telling stories and always had a helping hand to share. He will be deeply missed by his family and friends.

Steve is survived by his chidren Brad (Susan) Morse and Jason (Terri) Morse; six grandchildren Anthony, Melody, Steven, Justin, Caleb and Elliot; siblings Scott Morse, Jon (Deb) Morse and Ellen (Harold) Miner as well as many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents; wife Geraldine "Geri" Morse; brothers Pat and Tim and sister Sandy Gerdall.

Memorial Service will be at 11 AM on Friday, November 6, 2026 at Kok Funeral Home, 7676 80th St. S.; Cottage Grove, MN with a visitation from 10 - 11 AM. All are invited to a luncheon following the service. A graveside service will take place after the luncheon at Newport Cemetery; Newport, MN.
