Thomas Matthew Link passed away on Tuesday, September 15, 2026 at his home in Eagan, MN from an epileptic seizure. Thomas was born on September 11, 2000 in St. Paul, MN. His mother, Ana Maffei (née Link), has described him as a kindred old soul. Though he was an introvert for most of his life, he became much more sociable in high school and the years thereafter. 

Thomas went to the Saint Paul Conservatory for Performing Artists where he cultivated his passion for music, playing guitar, bass and drums. He was an eclectic music lover, aspiring producer and songwriter with a very unique ear for sonic textures and ambient music. He had a great taste in visual art and decoration, often bringing his own personal touch to the home he shared with his grandmother, Lori Link, since 2020 and their beloved dog, Moose.

His laughter and warmth left a lasting mark on everyone. He was often described as funny, quirky and spontaneous, as well as kind, caring and tender-hearted: all qualities that made him excel at his day job in the hospitality industry, where he was respected for his work ethic, for his willingness to help and for the great customer service he provided. He had been working at the Holiday Inn Express & Suites in Eagan, MN since June 2024.

He was diagnosed with epilepsy at age 18, but didn’t make it widely known to those around him. His condition didn’t manifest itself very often in the first few years following his diagnosis, but the last several months proved to be more than his body could handle.

Thomas is survived by his mother Ana Maffei, adoptive father Joe Maffei, stepfather Beau (Tracy) Denkmann, siblings Nathaniel (Naomi) Denkmann, Leighton Denkmann, Mikayla (Tristan) Knutson; grandparents Lori Link and Tom (Emilie) Link, uncle Matt (Rachel) Link, aunts Buffy Link, Steph Matson, and Crystal (Rob) Rossel; nephews Bennett Knutson and Tommy Denkmann, and many cousins, extended family members and dear friends.

A celebration of life will be held on Sunday, September 27, 2026 from 1:00 PM to 5:00 PM at Lake Vadnais Grand Events, located at 3429 Centerville Rd, Vadnais Heights, MN.

In lieu of cards and flowers, the family kindly asks for donations to the Epilepsy Foundation of Minnesota, or supporting bands from your local music scene in Thomas's memory.
