Wendy Lou Alverson (Scofield), age 67, passed away peacefully on January 7th, in Hastings, Minnesota, at Benedictine Living Community – Regina, surrounded by her family.
Wendy was born on November 10th, 1958, and grew up in Saint Paul Park, Minnesota. She spent most of her life in Saint Paul Park and Newport, building a life rooted in family, hard work, and deep compassion for others.
She graduated from Park High School in 1977. Wendy dedicated many years of her professional life to Preferred Translocation Systems, later acquired by C.H. Robinson. Known for her strong work ethic, reliability, and integrity, Wendy took great pride in her work and the relationships she built along the way.
Above all else, Wendy was a devoted and deeply proud mother. She is survived by her children: Cassie Alverson Taddei (Geno Taddei), Cali Brunzel Rohl (Nathan Brunzel Rohl), Cori Laska (Shawn Laska), and Craig Alverson (Danielle Alverson). Wendy was a loving and proud grandmother to Carmen Taddei, Chloe Taddei, Geno Taddei III, Arlo Brunzel Rohl, Aria Brunzel Rohl, Aubree Laska, Audrina Laska, Addie Alverson, Everly Alverson, and Beckett Alverson, each of whom brought her immeasurable joy and pride.
She is also survived by her parents, Ross and Judy Scofield; her brothers, John Scofield (Doni Detmar George), David Scofield (Twyla Scofield), and Joe Scofield; along with many nieces and nephews who will miss her dearly.
Wendy will be remembered as a strong, kind, and compassionate woman who led with her heart. She had a lifelong love for animals and cherished every cat, dog, grand-dog, and volunteer pup that crossed her path. Her empathy for animals was something she passed on to her children, leaving behind a lasting legacy of care and kindness.
In her younger years, Wendy enjoyed trap shooting, a pastime that reflected her quiet focus and independent spirit. She had a special love for her 1974 Monte Carlo, which held a meaningful place in her life. A lifelong music lover and avid reader, Wendy preferred a quiet night in, content with conversation, books, and music. Known for her sweet tooth, she never passed up the chance to enjoy a good dessert.
Wendy volunteered as a softball coach for her children’s teams, supporting them with all their sports with enthusiasm, encouragement, and unwavering confidence. Whether from the dugout or the sidelines, she cheered them on with the same strength and love that defined her life.
Her journey with Multiple Sclerosis was marked by remarkable resilience, grace, and perseverance. Even through the final phases of her illness, Wendy remained feisty, sassy, and unmistakably herself, meeting each day with determination, humor, and heart. She never allowed the disease to define her, and through her strength and presence, she showed those around her what true resilience looks like.
Wendy’s warmth, humor, and unconditional love will live on in the hearts of all who knew her. She leaves behind a lasting legacy of compassion, strength, and devotion that will continue to inspire generations to come.
The family extends heartfelt gratitude to the compassionate caregivers of Allina Hospice, as well as the dedicated staff and volunteers at Benedictine Living Community – Regina, whose kindness, care, and support meant so much to Wendy and her family.
