William Schroeder

Remembering with love...
William Chilton Schroeder, who passed away on August 25, 2022, at the age 80.

Bill was born on November 24, 1941, in Detroit Lakes, MN, to Francis and Ida Schroeder.  He grew up in Detroit Lakes, graduating from high school in 1959, and then he went on to St. Thomas College for a BA in Accounting.

He married Jo (Scapanski) in 1965 and four years later moved to Cottage Grove, MN, where they raised their daughters Michele, Lori, JJ and Cari. Bill retired after spending his last 25 years working for the State of Minnesota.

Always willing to help out and lend a hand with family and friends, he also enjoyed participating in church activities, family reunions and watching the hummingbirds feed out his front window.

Preceded in death by his parents Francis and Ida Schroeder, his brother James F. Schroeder and infant son Albert Michael. He is survived by his loving wife Jo, his daughters Michele Schroeder, Lori Waddick, JJ (Glen) Fickenworth and Cari Schroeder, his grandsons Daniel Tejada and Derek Waddick, his sisters Mary Lou O'Donnell and Jane (Joe) Lawrence, and his brother Thomas P. (Betty) Schroeder.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:30 am Friday, September 2, 2022, at St. Thomas Aquinas Church, 920 Holley Ave., St. Paul Park. Visitation at the church will be 9:30-10:30 am prior to the service, and interment at Resurrection Cemetery in Mendota Heights at 2 p.m. the same day.
