Judith Guy

Judith Susan Guy, age 76 of Cottage Grove, passed away November 6, 2019, peacefully at her home surrounded by her beloved family.

A celebration of her life will be held on Saturday, November 9, 2019 from 11:00 am – 1:30 pm at Kok Funeral Home, 7676 – 80th Street S., Cottage Grove.  In honor of Judy’s love for sports, friends are requested to wear their favorite Minnesota team colors.

Judith was born April 19, 1943 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin to Harold and Mary (Kellen) Tilbury during the time when her father was serving in the military.  They returned to their home area near Welcome, Minnesota where she graduated from Sherburn High School in 1962.  Judy was married to her high school sweetheart, Larry “Bud” Guy on May 5, 1962 and they lived in Sherburn for a few years before moving to nearby Fairmont.  Judy earned her Cosmetology and Teaching Certification and worked at The Hairdressers and was also employed at 3M.  As their children grew up, they loved spending time on the lake and doing things together.

In 1992, she and Larry moved to Cottage Grove where Judy operated the Minnesota School of Cosmetology for many years and worked for Interim Health Care.  They purchased a house boat and loved taking trips with their family on the river.

Judy was an avid sports fan who followed the Minnesota Twins, Vikings and Gophers schedules pretty closely.  Above all, Judy’s treasure was her family.  She loved her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren dearly.

She is the beloved mother to Jeff (Sandy), Mary (John) Vander Beek, Tim (Stacy) and Nancy (Tim) Mosloski; loving grandmother to Jessica (Dylan), Zachary, Guy (Erin), Molly (Luke), Bethany (Ryan), Joslyn “Joey” (Brandon), Justin, Zachary, Ari, Brandon (Heather), Abby (Chuck), Tyson and Timmy; 26 great-grandchildren; sister Diane Platzer and nephews Doug, Duff, Dale and Don Dorschner.

She is preceded in death by her husband Larry; infant son Daniel; parents Harold and Mary as well as her brother Donald.
